Outbound SMS (SMS-MT)

Mobile Terminated (MT) SMS enables the delivery of messages from a mobile business application to a mobile subscriber's handset. UK Mobile Media can deliver messages to subscribers on more than 700 carriers in over 150 countries. Our superb technical solution provides a reliable, efficient and cost-effective channel for bringing your messages to consumers.

Our SMS-MT interface enables a wide range of industries to use SMS in many applications, such as person-to-person messaging and application-to-person messaging and telemetry. This service can also be used for enterprise communications such as alerts and notifications.

We can offer different types of SMS MT services which best fit your business requirements clients. All services leverage our gateway's mobile transaction network and its numerous direct SMSC and SS7 link connections and indirect operator connections. By default, our mobile terminated services are delivered over high quality routes which are secure, fast and reliable – important for business-critical applications; however, we can also provide economy routes, which deliver bulk SMS messages at the lowest possible cost.

Inbound SMS (SMS-MO)

Mobile Originated SMS (MO) is a mobile message sent in from the end-user's mobile device and delivered to the client or application. Our interactive 2-way SMS gateway is available in over 150 countries around the world, providing fast, reliable, efficient and cost-effective direct interaction with your business. It is ideal for a wide range of applications and services such as 2-way marketing campaigns, SMS promotions, SMS competitions, television SMS voting, SMS chat, SMS-to-email and many others.

We offer 2-way interactive SMS solutions using our Open Mobile Application Framework and UK-based virtual numbers (which are 12-digit numbers similar to normal mobile numbers starting with the UK country code +44). This allows businesses to have their own inbound number, which is significantly more cost effective than having their own short codes. Using our Interactive SMS platform, you can achieve lower cost solutions for SMS and voice, with international accessibility and dedicated numbers.

We can offer keywords on shared short codes both in the UK and the US. Keywords can be rented on a campaign-by-campaign basis or on a long term basis. The keyword needs to be the first word in any message sent into the short code by the user, which allows the platform to then route the message to the appropriate application.

Short Code or Long Number?

• International accessibility of long numbers is ideal for companies that want to run their own SMS campaigns or any other assignment on global market, as opposed to short codes that are limited to specific countries or territories and have to be activated in each country which will make running campaigns more expensive and time consuming.
• Long numbers are more effective for long term campaigns rather than short codes where the number may not be available for a long period.
• Access to long numbers over SS7 is simpler than access to short codes, where service providers must enter a bilateral agreement with the carrier that actually owns the number which can be complicated and causes delays in rolling out your services
• Using long numbers is a lower cost solution than use of short codes
